My Current Skin Care Routine + your FAQ Skin care questions answered by a professional!

Long time, NO blog post!!! One of my goals for 2021 was to get back to sharing here more often- so I’m kicking this off with my updated Skincare routine! I recently started using some new products Kendra, my esthetician (turned good friend!) told me about and I am IN LOVE!!! The results I’ve seen in the last few weeks have been so noticeable, even Daniel said “YOUR SKIN LOOKS REALLY BRIGHT AND SMOOTH!” and ladies, we know when the husbands notice, it’s a big deal. haha!!! I’ve been seeing Kendra for 2 years now and I have full trust in her recommendations and I love when I get to see her outside of my facials too.

I actually did a Q&A with Kendra from some questions that were submitted to me through Instagram. I will add them below in addition to my AM/PM skin routine & everything I am currently using on my skin at the bottom of this post.

Also, I just wanted to say thanks for being here! I’m really excited to get more blog posts up!

Q: I have never had a skincare routine- where would you suggest I start?

A: I highly recommend you start by seeing a skincare professional- that way you’re not guessing with your skin and waisting money on products that may not be geared towards your skin type.

Q: I don’t have a huge budget for skincare, but I want to start somewhere. What would your suggestion be?

A: Having a good skincare routine doesn’t need to be complicated to get good results. You can start with a good base and then add in serums or more corrective products overtime. Starting with a good Cleanser, exfoliant, moisturizer, and spf. Those can do a lot for your skin.

Q: What are your top 3 favorite skincare products?

A: Cleansing Complex by IS Clinical, Hydrating Toner by PCA, Reparative Emulsion by iS Clinical.

Q: Monthly facials or at home skincare?

A: 80% of your results come from doing your at home routine. I always tell someone if they have to choose one over the other, make sure you have a good skin routine over getting monthly facials.

Q: What do you think about Botox?

A: I personally get Botox and have for over 10 years. I love it for preventing static wrinkles. It’s preventative in aging in general . It’s a personal decision in getting Botox, but I’m all for it!

Q: If you could give your best piece of advice regarding skin/skincare, would would it be?

A:  Focus on skin health over skin perfection. Make sure you wear spf every single day to protect your skin and prevent damage.

Q: What should I do when I get a giant zit? Any tips to help it go away quicker?

A: Ice it! Don’t pick. Use a good spot treatment after you ice and leave it alone. Icing can really cut the life cycle of a zit almost in half if you don’t mess with it before it’s ready to be extracted.

Q: Any drugstore skincare products you would vouch for?

A: There are a lot of drug store products that are comparable to medical grade skincare as far as pricing, but the quality and efficacy is where the difference is. Personally, as an esthetician it’s hard for me to vouch for luxury brands or drug store products; because the point of using skincare is to make changes in the skin and then have benefit from using the products years later.

Q: I can’t afford medical grad skincare- what would you suggest I do?

A:  I would say start off with the essentials and most important products for what’s going on with your skin. It really doesn’t have to break the bank, even using medical grade skincare. I love that IS Clinical has a kit called “The Essentials Kit” and you get an amazing cleanser and corrective serums and it’s only $84 and valued at $120. I work with budgets a lot and will put someone on the most effective products for their skin. In my opinion, it’s much better to have 2-3 amazing products that can really make a difference for your skin long term than be on 4-5 drug store products that really are not doing anything for your skin.
