Healthy Lifestyle Tips For Moms

Being a Mom is one of the most rewarding jobs on earth.

With that said, I have had my own fair share of struggles; especially with finding ways to keep up with a healthy lifestyle through the chaos and busyness of motherhood.

After the birth of second child I struggled THE MOST! I went through a season where I felt lost and lonely. I constantly asked myself, “How do other Moms do this?”. After almost 2 years of struggling, I went through a complete lifestyle change.

The change started with taking care of myself.

I started to exercise a few times a week. I took long walks with the stroller or I attended a group fitness class.

I quit eating my meals from a drive through window and I started cooking my meals at home. I even lost 30lbs!

I spoke kindly to myself and I gave myself grace.

Suddenly life was feeling less overwhelming and I felt like I had so much more to give everyone around me.

I have experienced trial and error as to what works for me to be the best Mom I can be. I am in no way perfect, but I have found success by creating a healthy and happy lifestyle.

7 HEALTHY LIFESTYLE TIPS FOR MOMS:

  1. CREATE A MORNING ROUTINE: Wake up each day with intention. WRITE OUT what you want to accomplish within the first hour of waking up and JUST DO IT! Maybe it’s as simple as drinking a big glass of water, making your bed, or getting dressed. I noticed a huge difference in my day if I just get up and cross off the important things first!
  2. GET ORGANIZED: Staying on top of everyone’s schedule and remembering important dates can be a headache. Get a daily planner or use your phone to stay on top of your busy schedule. I personally love writing in a planner and feel so much more accomplished when I can see everything in front of me that I need to do.
  3. PLAN & PREP MEALS: This one is a life changer!!! On Sundays I take 2-3 hours to plan dinners for the week, chop veggies, cooked our protein, make waffles for the week, put together a crockpot meal, etc… THIS HELPS SO MUCH with the busyness of life and we all stay on track with eating healthy meals.
  4. CREATE AN EXERCISE ROUTINE: Remember, anything is better than nothing. Don’t let time or lack of gym membership discourage you! There are plenty of apps or Youtube channels that offer free workouts with minimal equipment you can do in your living room. If you consistently move your body for 30 minutes on most days, you’ll experience amazing side effects. You’ll have more energy, you’ll sleep better, you’ll be nicer to everyone around you (hello endorphins!), and you’ll gain muscle and even experience weight loss.
  5. SELF CARE: This can look different for all of us as we all have different ways we relax. Some of my favorite ways to take care of myself include: A bubble bath and some soft music, a face mask, coffee date with a girlfriend, getting a pedicure, reading a book, or getting out of the house by myself without any other distractions. It’s easy to feel guilty to take some time for yourself, but TRUST ME you will feel better if you do something even just once a week that makes you happy.
  6. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVITY: Have you ever heard the phrase, “You are who you surround yourself with.”? When I surround myself with people who are happy, driven, positive, and kind- I feel those things too! Being healthy isn’t just physical. I would actually argue that health is a state of mind. Every barrier I have had in my life has been overcome by my mindset first. Everything else tends to fall into place after I change the way I think about it. At the end of the day we get to decide who we are going to be and how we are going to navigate through life. Whatever you believe about yourself on the inside is what you will manifest on the outside.
  7. SMILE- That’s right, put a smile on your face. Did you know that the simple act of smiling can boost your mood and even your immune system?! There’s a common link between smiling and the feeling of happiness. Healthy equals HAPPY!

Mamas, you are so strong and so capable of ANYTHING! If you want to create new habits, then DO IT! If you want a healthier and happier life, go for it!!! You are unstoppable and can do whatever you put your mind to!
